In class, we have been learning about the different countries in the United Kingdom. We have been creating a simple program for Beebot to move around all the different countries.

Computer challenge

Our challenge was to look at the whiteboard and decide which coloured shape came next in the pattern.  We worked with a partner if we found it tricky.

ICT

Our task was to learn how to take pictures on the IPad and import them into an app called Book Creator. This task was tricky at first but we are learning fast.

Our challenge was to use the iPad to design a garden.  Here are some examples of our designs.

IPads

This week we have been learning how to move BeeBot around the obstacle course.  Miss has been pleased at how confident we are using the IPads.

We are learning about journeys in class. With our partner we took it in turns to program Beebot to move forwards, backwards and make left and right turns.

Challenge Time

Today we had 20 minutes of challenge time where there were lots of activities to choose from.

Here are what some of he children said:

Grace: My favourite activity was listening to a story on the listening centre

Josie: I really like playing in the post office

Maggi: I like helping people

Milo: Going on the computers is my favourite challenge time activity

Lloyd: I like using Lego to make things

Maths Challenge Area

We have enjoyed ordering the flowers according to their heights. We counted the number of leaves and petals each had. We were able to count them in Welsh also. We played a shape game in which we had to select the correct shapes to cover the petals of the flowers.

20140509-135943.jpg We investigated a collection of seeds and bulbs. We were set the challenge to find the smallest and largest. We were able to sort them into groups and count how many of each there was. We used the digital microscopes and the magnifying glasses to study the seeds and bulbs more closely.

Growing

We have been learning about the changes that happen during springtime. We have planted beans and are monitoring the changes that have happened already. We also thought about lambs and chicks and discussed how they would change and grow into adult animals.

20140408-155210.jpg We planted more seeds into trays and have put them in the greenhouse to begin to grow. We have discussed how we need to look after them to help them grow. We enjoyed playing an animal matching game on the interactive white board and use the farm set to match all our young animals up with their parents.
