Our visit to St David’s Cathedral

Class One went to visit St David’s Cathedral today. Everyone was very excited and all agreed it was a brilliant learning experience. Janet was our teacher and welcomed us. She explained we were all going to be pilgrims for the day.

Our class played games to encourage listening skills. We had to listen to sounds and guess what they were. Our second game was to work in teams and play ball games.

After the story we dressed up in habits just as ST David did. We visited different areas around the cathedral. At the end of the day we said a prayer and lit a candle.

Jacob ” I enjoyed all of the day”.
Joe ” I liked the bus”.
Ashley ” I liked the game”.
Grace “I liked the craft”.

RE – Welcoming

Class One continued learning about being welcomed into the Church when you are Baptised, We talked about different ways of making someone feel welcome. Lots of us thought a smile helped you feel welcome. Our groups took it in turns to create a smiling face with natural objects in the playground,

RE – everyone is special.

In RE today we read a Psalm .  It told us everyone is special and precious.  In our groups we wrote thank you prayers, drew pictures of people who are precious to us and used play dough to create handprints.

Our new topic is called “Myself”.  Our task was to create a paper bag puppet.  We looked in the mirror and talked about the different features on our face.

Our faces

Our topic in Religious Education is ‘Myself’. To help us with our learning we have been talking about why we are all special even though we all look so different.  We created faces using clay.

RE

Our topic is about our world and this week we have been learning about how precious water is.  We talked about how we can save water in the house and we created posters.

We also looked at natural objects that you would find at the beach or in the sea.

Our other task was to use the play dough to create models of the world.

RE

Our new topic is called ‘Our world’. Our activities are helping us to learn more about the world we live in.

Activity One: To create a wonder wall.  We thought about questions we would like to ask about our world

Joe “Why do cows moo?”

Owain “Why do seeds grow?”

Activity Two : Use the Cafod website.

Activity Three: Draw pictures about what we love in world on hearts and cut them out using scissors.

Activity Four: Create green paint handprints to make a 3D Earth.
