3D shapes

Our challenge today was to play the shape guessing game. We took it in turns to describe a shape to our friends and they had to guess which shape had been chosen.
The next part of the challenge was to make a model using the 3D shapes.

3D shapes

Class One are learning the names of the 3D shapes this week. We used the large construction to create the shapes and help us to describe them.

Play dough numbers

Our challenge was to create play dough numbers and count the correct amount of counters by putting them into the play dough number.

Patterns

Our learning has been about patterns this week, we have been making repeating patterns with two colours.

Our challenge was to make a repeating pattern using three colours!

Number sums

Our topic in maths this week has been learning about numbers and how to recognise and say a number sum.
In our groups we created our own number sums.

One of the challenges was to buy items from the food shop, we used pound coins in our shop.

Maths

One of our challenges in Maths this week is to learn how to play Hopscotch. This was a tricky game at first but it became easier the more we practised.

Writing numbers

In our maths lessons we have been learning how to write our numbers.

Mathematical Development

This week we have been talking about height, in our groups we have been talking about the meaning of the words ‘tallest’ and ‘shortest’. In our groups we sorted ourselves into the correct order from tallest to shortest,

Each group took it in turns to use the construction to build a tall house and a short house.

Length

In our lessons this week we have been learning the vocabulary ‘longest’ and shortest. Our teacher has been teaching us how to measure different objects in the class. We had to find objects which were longer and shorter than a 30 cm ruler,
In our groups we used cubes to measure the length of different objects,

We painted stripes on the snakes to see which was the longest snake.

Adding two numbers

In our lesson we had to throw two dice. Once we had thrown them we had to get the Numicon pieces and make a number sum. Our teacher was very proud of us.
